Nerve.com was cool and then you hit the porn that shitcanned your computer. Text was king, and if you seriously wanted to get an answer or meet some folks, Usenet was the shit. And IRC. Anyone on a Mac who knew "Config PPP" was in demand. Video? Use the TV.

You could download and send images, thumbnails. 30 minutes for your friend's new song. Hours to fill up a G3 from another drive. Bill Gates was a viper, Apple was about dead. Google didn't exist.
