A nice detail about Tweetie for Mac.

If you try to close the window after you've typed your say, the dialog box offers "discard" as the default option. It assumes you don't want to bother to save a draft, which suits composing for the medium perfectly.

New Mac app selectively blocks the outside world.

SelfControl, by Eyebeam Labs' Steve Lambert. Comes with no documentation. I really want to install something that still controls the Mac after a restart, with no notes on what is installed where. Yuk yuk. But my biggest question is how hard is it to do this on your own? Imagine a world on its own for two hours without Twitter.

iPod software 1.0.3 is out.

Minutes ago. Maybe now, the late 2007 MBP with iTunes 8.0.1 will remember that this 4G nano is not in disk mode. Hope it also helps with a "resume" hiccup. For the nano only, I guess.

Why the iPhone is not like a BlackBerry.

Trying out Bloom, a new iPhone/iPod touch application by Brian Eno and Peter Chilvers. Create your composition, instrument, and artwork by tapping the screen. Ambient, of course, and while you relax, the generative player will take over to create new compositions and visualizations. Eno calls it "a 21st century music box. You can play it, and watch it play itself." Indispensable.

User interface hell.

Screenshot of Vuze (formerly Azureus), the open source torrent client. This is the new version for the Mac. A truly hideous and confusing Windows port. I'd be running Vista if I wanted more of this. The built-in ads on the right are especially classy.

PerversionTracker.

After ages, it's back. Wonderful satires of crapware for the Mac.
